I have made split cotters in brass, to clamp my castings. What I find is they clamp great with the lightest touch of the locking handle, but they don't release. Well the inside cotter with the stud releases, but the outer one with the clearance hole through it sticks tight against the shaft and I need to tap the casting before it becomes free.

There is no reason why lathe tool grinding cannot be carried out on the Deckel as with the Quorn. In past copies of Model Engineers Workshop have been write ups on a tool grinding using a sweeping motion.
