Nov 04, 2013· TAIG Lathe and Mill Projects Hey guys, I ran across a guy who has shared some of his projects relating to mini engines, TAIG mill and lathe projects, and a craftsman 109 rebuild and many more projects. I thought his stuff was interesting and I thought I'd share it with all of you and maybe someone will find this stuff interesting.
The smaller Taig and Sherline mills allow high accuracy CNC manufacturing capabilities but man are they small which is a turn off considering their high price! Although, through all of my searchings for CNC mills on the net CNC mills are far from cheap making the desktop CNC mills .

Taig has just released a ballscrew option for the mill. The ballscrews are precision matched with the ball bearings resulting in nearly zero backlash and low friction operation. As the ballscrew mills have about half of the drive reduction as the leadscrew version we are using 276-oz in motors which are a better match for the motion profile.

Displays bezels were cut. More than 20 gauges were fabricated using the Taig mill and over a 100 keyboard keys cut and engraved. It has been an almost overwhelming task.
