Abstract. This paper summarizes C-E experience regarding the impact of chlorides on flue gas desulfurization system (FGDS) design. The effect of chloride on alloy selection, SO/sub 2/ absorption, scale control, and additives use as well as techniques that may be used to limit chloride concentration in lime/limestone FGD systems are discussed.
